Gloversville Satellite Chapter News
Paul Borisenko
Greetings Everyone, If you are like me you have been
spending your time looking at the Fly fishing catalogs, tying flies, and
thinking about spring. We will get there before you know it but I have
got to believe that it's going to be a while before the streams settle
down.
Some of you are aware that the Fly Shack is no longer
able to host our meetings and that we have been looking at our
alternatives. Well I am very happy to announce that we have been offered
space at the Pine Tree Rifle Club. They are located in Johnstown at 419
Johnson Ave., which is just off of O'Neil St.
An interactive map is below to help in getting
directions.

Now I have to admit that I have never been there so
I'm not going to attempt to give you directions, but looking at the map
it appears to be pretty straight forward. Most of you are coming from a
different direction than me so your directions would probably vary. I
know some of you are members of this club and would be interested in
helping with the directions feel free to speak up. The meeting time and
day will remain the same as it has been. We will meet on the third
Thursday of every month except July and August, and the meetings will
run from 7-8:30 pm.
Meetings are preceded by a technical discussion relative to fly fishing, or fly tying by one of the groups experts in that particular area of the sport.
For additional information concerning the
meetings please contact:
Paul
Borisenko or
Ron Dorn.
This satellite group is part of the Clearwater Chapter are able to participate in any of the chapters’ activities. As members of the satellite group, members can organize and participate in conservation activities closer to home near Gloversville, or participate in Clearwater Chapters’ activities if they so desire. Anyone interested in getting information on membership meetings or scheduled activities for the satellite group can contact the Clearwater Chapter Membership Chairman
John Morette.
The Gloversville group has had fly tying
demonstrations, celebrations, a stream cleanup on the Cayudutta Creek,
planning meetings, and more in its first year. They
did a streamside cleanup on the Cayadutta
last summer and are gearing up for another series of cleanups this
spring. We also made a contact with the public works department and they, along with the city engineer, have offered their support in our efforts to improving the stream.
